Join us for a month of gentle yoga in the style of Sri Krisnamacharya! As a teacher relatively new to the Seattle area, I'm looking forward to broadening my community and meeting more friends and neighbors. I hope you'll join us for 4 free weekly online classes and try out this beautiful practice. Classes will meet on Zoom, Mondays (Jan 23 - Feb 13) at 5pm - 6pm PT.
Krisnamacharya style yoga, sometimes called viniyoga, is less commonly taught in American studios. It emphasizes attention to the breath and the experience of union between the body, breath, and mind. This is a slow-paced, relaxing practice that supports health through targeted practices. With regular practice you may experience increased strength and flexibility, better rest, better digestion, reduced anxieties, and many more benefits. I teach in the manner that my teachers in India have taught me and I continue to receive teaching and mentoring. It is my intention to stay true to this tradition and also serve the needs of each student who attends my class.
This class will be gentle-moderate and may include postures such as suryanamaskaram (sun salutation), virabhadrasana (warrior I), vasistasana (side plank), forward bends, twists, and squats. Variations will be included. At the beginning of the class I will ask if you'd like to address specific areas of the body in the practice. If you are looking for a more gentle or relaxing practice, I also am teaching an online series at Phinney Ridge Yoga that's suitable for seniors, people who want to relax, and those working with injuries/sensitive areas.
Yoga can be even more powerful when it is tailored to your unique needs. If you are interested in private yoga sessions I have some limited availability to take on new students for individually designed yoga practice. I am also happy to suggest other local teachers if our schedules do not align.
